A New Beginning in the End: Sound Recording Copyright Terminations: A Discussion and Debate,” on August 16, 2012. The Copyright Act grants an author the right to terminate a grant of rights thirty five years after a grant of transfer or license. Because the termination right applies to works created on or after January 1, 1978, countless authors are expected to seek to regain their copyrights beginning in 2013.
