About
Carmen Escutia is a legal assistant at Tor Ekeland Law. She has experience supporting criminal prosecution and immigration casework across California and New York, most recently at the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office, where her work included case management and client facing support in both English and Spanish.
Carmen’s interest in the law extends into immigration practice. As an intern with Central American Legal Assistance in Brooklyn, NY, she supported asylum clients amid rising deportation rates, including interpreting for a psychological evaluation and translating legal documents for clients navigating the immigration system.
Carmen earned her BA in Political Science, with a minor in Forensics and Criminality, from the University of Southern California. She was selected for Bard NYC, an immersive academic and professional program in politics, law, and public affairs built around mentorship and field placements. Building on her experience, Carmen plans to attend law school and pursue a career as a practicing attorney.
